Linda A. Goldstein, PhD, CMPP
President and Principal Writer
Linda is a freelance writer with more than 16 years’ experience in medical communications and publication planning. Working in close collaboration with colleagues, she has successfully developed and delivered dozens of strategic and tactical communication plans for diverse clients and in many therapeutic areas of medicine. She has presented and implemented full publication plans for large pharmaceutical companies with blockbuster drugs, and provided stand-alone projects for small biotechs with promising pipelines.
Before coming to medical communications, Linda worked as a Research Analyst at an Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ) Evidence-based Practice Center, where she gained experience performing meta-analyses and writing health technology assessments (HTAs). Linda also spent five years conducting epidemiologic research in public health and injury prevention. She is recognized for her attention to detail and the comprehensive nature of her work. She is well-suited for and excels at literature assessments and gap analyses, AMCP-formatted dossiers, and outcomes research, including psychometric validation of patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR).
Linda received her BS degree in Biological Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania and holds a dual PhD in Neuroscience and Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She is a member of American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP).
Mark V. Fansler
Chief Executive Officer
Mark has more than 30 years of experience in business administration and operations. As CEO of The Write Source MSC, LLC, he intends to firmly integrate the agency into the medical communications and publication planning space by optimizing the company’s operations, which includes using smart approaches to business development, contract negotiations, fiscal forecasting and targeted talent acquisition. Mark expects to expand the agency’s editorial services menu by continuing to provide exceptional service to existing clients and proactively cultivating new relationships with potential customers.
During his career, Mark has served as Director, Vice President, President and CEO of companies that experienced exponential growth under his direction. As a senior executive, his responsibilities included strategic planning for the achievement of business objectives, financial modeling, and providing ongoing support to ensure company profitability and sustainability. As a board member, he had fiduciary responsibilities in excess of $2.7 billion.
As an independent consultant, Mark is routinely called upon to revive failing companies by identifying their deficiencies and liabilities, making recommendations for changes in leadership and instituting new, viable policies and procedures. An entrepreneur at heart, Mark possesses a keenly strategic vision, and has capitalized on opportunities to create new ventures and grow existing businesses.
He has enjoyed being a member of the Philadelphia chapters of the West Point Society and Union League throughout much of his career. As a Master Graduate of Rapport Leadership International, Mark has served as part of Rapport’s voluntary assistant training staff, coaching future graduates during intensive training programs. Mark has extensive experience in public speaking for local, regional and national venues.
Apart from his professional success, Mark is most proud of his accomplishments as a husband, father and mentor.
Terry E. Ahern, MS, DVM
Terry joins the team with a broad background in basic research and veterinary medicine. Terry received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Auburn University and served as a Student Research Fellow at the Scott-Ritchey Research Center. As a veterinary student, she received the Birmingham Feline Fanciers and Student Research Awards. Terry completed an externship at the Veterinary Institute of Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She practiced in North Carolina and Georgia, placing emphasis on small animal and emergency medicine.
Before obtaining her DVM, Terry served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where her research focused on identifying the defective gene causing juvenile chronic myelogenous leukemia. She received her Master’s of Science (MS) in Veterinary Pathobiology from Auburn University, where her research analyzed cancer in canines. She has co-authored two manuscripts published in AntiCancer Research and the American Journal of Veterinary Research. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology (minor in Chemistry) from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
Terry is a member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and is completing the Essential Skills course. She is a long-standing member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Terry concurrently serves as a consultant and editor for newsletters for two local organizations. She also works as an advocate, fundraiser and Chair for the Best Buddies program in Columbus, Georgia.
Greg is a freelance health and medical writer with more than 10 years of experience creating various types of content in numerous therapeutic areas. With a specialty covering physical therapy and rehabilitative medicine research developments, he also holds ongoing relationships with a broad profile of clients and helms projects that range from product marketing materials to investigative research articles and beyond. Current and prior clients include Mayo Clinic, DJO Global, Cleveland Clinic and several private medical practices, for which he has composed consumer- and physician-oriented blog posts, detailed disease descriptions, news story reviews, injury prevention guides and abstract summaries. Greg is also a regular contributor to the medical trade publication Lower Extremity Review, for whom he investigates musculoskeletal and neurological conditions of the lower extremity and offers the most appropriate management strategies based on available literature and professional insight.
With a BA in English from Fairfield University (2006) and an extensive background in journalism, Greg obtained a Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions Certificate from UC Berkeley Extension in 2014, where he advanced his core competency in biological sciences and health literacy. He has also been member of the Northern California Chapter of American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) since 2012.
Kavita Gupta, PhD
After obtaining her PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Utah, Kavita has worked for several start-up biomedical companies to translate their research and development concepts to Phase I clinical trials. She has diverse experience in nutraceuticals, combination products, cell therapies, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals.
Kavita also has experience in overall project management. She streamlined the preclinical stage development of biomedical products, negotiated contracts, and supervised studies with several contract research organizations. She prepared complex documents including grants, research articles, business and commercialization plans, presentations for potential investors, and regulatory submission documents. She has written pre-IND and IND documents in the eCTD format, including the CMC, non-clinical study reports, clinical trial protocols, and Investigator’s Brochures. She is familiar with the ICH E3 guideline for writing clinical study reports and is currently taking courses through the American Medical Writer’s Association (AMWA) and Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) to further her knowledge in preparing regulatory documents for late-stage clinical trials and marketing approvals.
Nancy A. Milligan, MSc
Nancy has more than 10 years’ experience working as a medical and regulatory writer for clients in the pharmaceutical industry and the biomedical sector. Before freelancing, Nancy spent nearly 9 years as writer and editor for a contract research organisation in London, developing various types of regulatory and medical communications documents. She also was responsible for quality control checking, supervising junior writers, attending conferences, exhibiting, and other company-related marketing activities.
Nancy is a skilled clinical regulatory writer with experience working on key documents required as part of the drug development process, including clinical study protocols and reports, serious adverse event narratives, Investigators’ Brochures, and clinical summaries and overviews. With regard to medical writing, Nancy has experience with manuscripts (primary papers and reviews), abstracts, posters, slide presentations, competitor reviews, Website copy, and training manuals. She has knowledge of a variety of study designs and experience in a wide range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, pain, cardiology, gastroenterology, immunology, critical care, psychiatry, and neurology.
Nancy received her BSc in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London and her MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from Imperial Collage London, United Kingdom. She is a long-standing member of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), regularly attends their training conferences, and has completed the EMWA professional development programme at the foundation and advanced levels.
Amos Race, PhD
Amos comes to medical communications after a 20-year research career in orthopedic biomechanics. He has worked in collaboration with clinicians and diverse commercial partners, from start-ups to established industry giants. Amos has published extensively; in addition to authoring 33 peer-reviewed journal articles (16 as first author), he has written grants (including successful NIH proposals), reports, abstracts and presentations.
After completing his PhD at Imperial College London, United Kingdom, Amos continued his research for two years as a post-doctoral fellow, developing a novel knee-ligament reconstruction. Subsequently, he worked on intervertebral disc biomechanics at the University of Auckland in New Zealand before moving to the United States. Amos was an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where he conducted research for 11 years, primarily on aspects of total joint replacement.
Amos obtained his BSc in Engineering Design from the University of Warwick and his MSc in Scientific Computing and Scientific Information Technology from London South Bank University, both in the United Kingdom.
Mei-Fei Yueh, PhD
Mei-Fei started her freelance writing career in 2010 and has been proactively involved in writing and editing various types of medical and regulatory documents, including – but not limited to – manuscripts and review articles, NIH grants, scientific blogs and conference summaries and reports. She has gained extensive experience in writing documents related to in vitro diagnostics and clinical research in the therapeutic areas of oncology, immunology and liver diseases.
Mei-Fei received her PhD from the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology at Oregon State University. As a board-certified toxicologist, Mei-Fei has more than 15 years of research experience designing and implementing projects in drug metabolism, in vitro and in vivo toxicology studies, liver pathogenesis, drug-drug interactions, immunology and neurotoxicity. She has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and received grants through NIH funding.
Mei-Fei recently obtained Regulatory Affairs Certification - RAC (US) and is familiar with FDA and ICH guidelines and regulations for the development of clinical drugs and medical devices. She has ample experience editing clinical study protocols, investigator’s brochures, and clinical study reports for FDA submission. Mei-Fei has full professional proficiency in English and Chinese.
Paul Wiernusz is an accomplished art director with extensive experience in branding, corporate identity, print and web design, advertising, and marketing. He is a strategic leader able to optimize workflow, raise performance expectations, and maintain organization. Paul is passionate about creating exceptional work, growing client relationships, and elevating the proficiency and culture within internal teams.
The bulk of Paul’s career was with Complete Healthcare Communications. Paul was responsible for large pharmaceutical meetings and trade show design. Paul moved into a supervisory role where he excelled at juggling multiple projects under tight deadlines and handling the ever-changing workflow within the department.
Currently, Paul is working remotely as a freelance designer for various clients. When he is not at his computer, Paul enjoys working out, snowboarding, running, tennis, spending time with family and friends, and lives for the beach.
